AAA Repair (open)

Conventional repair of abdominal aortic aneurysms involves a large wound in the abdomen. A thorough check of the abdominal contents is made to evaluate for other pathology. The aneurysm is exposed and isolated between clamps. This allows the aneurysm to be opened and replaced by an artifical polyester graft.
